General Summary :

Provides Purchasing with technical and system support with all aspects of the purchasing systems within the division including Newstar and BuildPro.

Primary Objectives:

• Review daily purchase requests and buyer reports to ensure timely procurement of goods and services.

• Communicate and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and reliable delivery schedules.

• Research and compare vendor options using catalogs, quotes, and supplier discussions to confirm specifications and availability.

• Monitor supplier costs in relation to market trends and commodity price changes to maintain cost efficiency.

• Decide on the most effective sourcing approach - direct purchase or competitive bid - based on requirements.

• Create and issue purchase orders or bid solicitations as needed, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

• Confirm vendor lead times align with project or production schedules and proactively address any delays.

• Keep organized procurement files and supporting documentation for all purchases.

• Partner with internal departments to resolve material discrepancies or quality issues.

• Collaborate with suppliers to meet required order timelines and follow up on outstanding deliveries.

• Track and manage inventory to support operational goals and optimize stock turnover.

• Adhere to all safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work area.

• Follow both verbal and written instructions from management and assist with other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent required. Some Accounting coursework at college level preferred.
• Two years of Accounting experience at minimum; two years contract experience may be required
• Good understanding of construction and divisional office procedures.
• Proficient computer skills (especially spreadsheet and word processing software; may need database experience).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
