Job Description Summary
This position has been created to have a Research Specialist join the lab of Dr. Verginadis in the Department of Radiation Oncology. The Research Specialist A will have a have a biology degree background and preferably some experience in immunofluorescent/immunohistochemistry staining, imaging and animal handling. Experience in immunoblotting, flow cytometry or cell-based assays including proliferation would be a plus. Other responsibilities include general lab duties (ordering supplies, biosafety maintenance), preparing presentations for lab and other meetings and helping oversee smaller projects performed by undergraduates. The Research Specialist A, will also help to generate preliminary data used when applying for early investigator awards within this year, and for future peer-reviewed publications in coming years.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform Immunofluorescence/Immunohistochemical staining of proteins on tumor and normal tissue sections
  • Maintain cell cultures, organoids, treat cells with inhibitors
  • Perform tumor xenograft experiments in mice
  • Perform immunoblots, flow cytometry, cell-based assays including proliferation
  • Help in the general running of the lab, including: ordering, receiving items, and maintaining lab organization
  • Train rotating undergraduates in lab methods. Safety training of new personnel.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned




Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.


Preferred


Some experience in cell and molecular techniques, including PCR < flow cytometry etc.
