Social Media Content Creator
Social Media Content Creator is a creative thinker and storyteller with a passion for all things social media. Whether it’s creating engaging videos, eye-catching infographics, persuasive copy or a mixture of all three, they are an expert in producing compelling content that stands out. The Social Media Content Creator should know the latest social media trends, have a solid understanding of how to quickly shoot and edit videos for all social channels, and be adept at promoting content on those channels (or helping others in doing so). This role will also be responsible for helping develop and present social content opportunities to clients.
This is a local position but does have a hybrid schedule . This job requires you to be in the Peoria, IL office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday with the option to work from home Monday and Friday.
As the Social Media Content Creator, my objective is : To create social content that delivers a clear message and catches the attention of targeted virtual communities. I help clients grow their online presence and meet their overall marketing objectives. I’m also proficient in shooting photo/video with a smart phone or tablet, capture good audio, use editing software and leverage text animation templates. I am willing/able to learn basic DSLR camera equipment if needed for certain shoots. I am a skilled communicator and can work independently or collaboratively with a team.
The outcomes I need to produce for clients are: - Dynamic and engaging videos, photos, infographics and text posts on any social media platform, cutting through the noise and making an impact
- New opportunities for innovation in the social media landscape as trends, platforms and features emerge (demonstrating an ability to evolve, explore and embrace what’s new)
- Quick-turn social media content within budget
The outcomes I need to produce for the agency are : - Support for the Creative, Motion Media Content Production and Media teams
- Quick and budget-friendly social content, specifically independent solutions for video content. This requires planning/coordinating shoot details, capturing video, asking interview questions, and editing pieces that feel smart, quick and “social first”
- Creative, strategic and analytical thinking — working closely with teams to ensure social media content is aligned with campaign or project goals
- Agency thought leadership — staying current on the latest social media trends, platforms and tools and educating the agency on them
- Collaboration with team members by delivering quality work quickly and within budget
To produce these outcomes, I need to : - Have an outgoing but professional personality: Be a genuine people person with the ability to build rapport and trust quickly with all types of individuals in a variety of environments and settings
- Create content: Write post copy and discussion guides; shoot photos and video footage, then edit for social platforms (create in-platform when appropriate)
- Be a multi-tasker extraordinaire on set: Can comfortably and independently lead a small video shoot, while simultaneously conducting short interviews, filming content and interacting with clients and customers
- Manage and coordinate logistics and on-site planning/communications with the client and subject matter experts at shoots I attend independently
- Efficiently and quickly edit video and image content using editing software, adding music tracks, transitions, minimal motion graphics and special effects
- Be able to operate, configure and set up basic camera, video, audio or other production equipment
- Plan content: create a content calendar of ideas that will achieve clients’ goals
- Evaluate content performance — assess whether the content you’ve created is working based on goals and metrics and offer ideas for optimizations amd/or improvement if not
- Identify on-going discussions or content opportunities online that clients can participate in — find trends or conversations that a brand could meaningfully contribute to
- Understand how to engage in conversation with people on different platforms (channel moderation)
- Develop and present social first campaigns — comprehensive ideas that span platforms and users
- Execute multiple projects at once, ensuring that all deadlines are met
The skills and abilities I require are: - 4-year college or university degree, or equivalent experience in social media, journalism, communications, writing, video/content production or similar concentration
- 4+ years of social media content creation experience for a business, marketing agency or other related field
- Experience working with a variety of social media networks, such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, LinkedIn, etc.
- Knowledge of best practices for social media platforms, such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, LinkedIn, etc.
- Aptitude for crafting engaging social media content with proven results
- Be detail-orientated and organized with the ability to quickly reprioritize tasks or change course to meet demand
To produce these outcomes, I have decision-making authority over the following : - Defining and assembling resources based on the project need
- How to communicate effectively: face-to-face, email, Teams/Zoom, phone
- Daily schedule being aligned to agency and project deadlines
- Job and career development
Leading indicators of my success are : - An increase in the amount of social content created for clients
- Improved metrics-driven data based on client goals, audience growth and participation, etc.
- More social media campaigns integrated into major client work
- Effective social content shoots and post/video edits (and growing skills in these spaces)
- Meeting agency and client deadlines
- Internal team and client satisfaction
