Responsibilities:

• Maintain knowledge of current regulations and best practices pertaining to special education
• Cocreate a healthy school environment using an assetbased approach and traumainformed care
• Facilitate both academic and realworld skillbuilding in a nontraditional setting
• Develop supportive positive relationships with students
• Provide instruction in a coteaching/push in/pull out model to support students with special education needs
• Ensure access to learning in the core program and guide progress towards graduation standards
• Identify and guide the implementation of appropriate accommodations and/or modifications for student success
• Collaborate with school administrators and teachers to monitor student success in the general education program
• Conduct quarterly progress monitoring of each students IEP and 504 plans and goals
• Develop appropriate academic transitional and behavioral goals based on Common Core Standards
• Collaborate to provide documentation for participation with accommodations in standardized testing
• Develop personcentered transition plans with students and families starting in 9th grade
• Lead Student Study Team IEP and 504 meetings conduct assessments and prepare reports
• Manage and oversee provision of related services such as speech therapy and occupational therapy
• Adhere to special education procedural guidelines and ensure procedural rights
• Develop and implement appropriate Behavior Intervention Plans
• Engage parents in discussions about student progress through family conferencing
• Create and maintain records files and reports as required by regulations
• Administer academic diagnostic tests and provide reports on learning progress
• Serve on the administrative leadership team and other work teams as needed
• Support school leadership with data collection campus coverage and family communication

Qualifications:

• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
• 2 years working with students with special needs preferably with highrisk urban youth
• Experience in alternative youth development and/or experiential learning settings
• Ability and willingness to implement students IEPs
• CA Special Education Teaching Credential (mild/moderate education specialist) required
• Bachelors Degree required; Masters Degree preferred
